Litter Pick Sunday 20 October

22nd October 2019 by Stuart Jarvis Leave a Comment

Well Sunday was a small turnout , not unexpected as have previously been notified of  members other obligations and holiday breaks.

However despite the small team our foray resulted in 12 Bags collected and an assemblage of wheels metal frames and materials otherwise unidentifiable.

This was collected from Southampton road from Haywain Crossroads to Bourne Road Junction ( and a bit beyond ) and also the bane of our Litter Picking The “Lay By “  itself ..

The place was well littered with the normal fast food bags and containers , drinks cans and bottles. It is amazing that 12 bags of litter can accumulate so quickly when we have already cleared this lay-by twice in the past 9 months.

29th September Litter Pick Update!

10th October 2019 by Stuart Jarvis Leave a Comment

Firstly, an update after our Sunday 29th September Litter pick We picked from M27 Roundabout through to Green Dragon …also covered by our Mavericks , Newbridge through Pollards Moor Rd and Parish Hall, Tatchbury down to Haywain Crossroads and Brockishill Road were all done. A total of 4 bags collected. Which is actually heartening really ….less being discarded . Sunday the 6th of October … Most of our pickers are away or doing other things and the weather was forecast wet .. and it wasn’t, so we did the Cadnam roundabout and both sides of the dual carriage way .. and actually only 1 bag collected . And this week we have covered Tatchbury to Winsor road ( Budds Farm ) and from Blackhill’s Road carpark through Stocks Crossroads ( Bramshaw Parish ) and managed only half a bag !!! So we are not doing too bad all in all it is noticeably much cleaner . Our Bag total now is 178 Black Bin Sized Bags, it may be more. If you have, and indeed when you do in future, collect in any other spots please forward the area and your bag totals .. Martin is going to make the totals a feature on the Website and it may help to win us hopefully some sponsorship for next year, and letting us know where and when helps us to organise our Sunday picks . We are going to be at the Parish Hall this Sunday 13th at 9-30 AM for a quick pick along Southampton Road …Around the Crossroads at Haywain ( back of Rockram is getting bad again ) and perhaps we can travel along to Layby at the Bourne Road Crossroads and maybe even incorporate New Inn Road and Chineham Road, usually a little bit along these two short roads . So see you there Pickers if you can make it.

Best wishes to you all Stuart
